OYO/OSUN AREA COMMAND STRENGTHENS INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION WITH DSS, NDLEA, AND NAFDAC IN OYO STATE

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhanced inter-agency collaboration following a series of strategic courtesy visits to key security and regulatory agencies in Oyo State.
The visits, led by the Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC), Deputy Comptroller Moses Adewole, were held between 17 and 19 February 2026 and focused on deepening existing partnerships, strengthening intelligence sharing, and improving synergy in joint operations to bolster national security and service delivery.
On Tuesday, 17 February 2026, DC Adewole and his management team visited the Department of State Services (DSS), Oyo State Command, Ibadan, where they were received by the State Director, Mr. Rahim Adelakun. The Acting CAC commended the DSS for its critical role in safeguarding lives, property, and national security, emphasizing the need for sustained collaboration between both agencies to address emerging security challenges.

In his response, Mr. Adelakun appreciated the visit and described the Nigeria Customs Service as a pivotal institution in Nigeria’s economic development and border protection architecture. He assured the Command of the DSS’s continued support through robust intelligence sharing, joint operations, and capacity-building initiatives.
Similarly, on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, the Acting CAC paid a courtesy visit to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command. He was received by the State Commander, Commander Oluwarotimi Lawal, and his management team. Commander Lawal commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its strategic efforts in curbing illicit trafficking and pledged the Agency’s maximum cooperation in strengthening ongoing operational collaborations.
DC Adewole expressed appreciation for the existing partnership between the two agencies and reiterated his resolve to further consolidate joint enforcement efforts aimed at combating smuggling and other trans-border crimes.
The series of engagements concluded on Thursday, 19 February 2026, with a visit to the Southwest Zonal Office of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Ibadan. The Acting CAC was received by the Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Isaac Anjorin Kolawole. During the meeting, DC Adewole acknowledged NAFDAC’s critical mandate in regulating food and drug safety and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to continued collaboration in safeguarding public health and protecting national interests.
In his remarks, Dr. Kolawole commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its contributions to revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and border security. He emphasized the importance of sustained inter-agency synergy in achieving effective service delivery and national development, assuring the Command of NAFDAC’s unwavering cooperation.
The Oyo/Osun Area Command maintains that these engagements underscore its dedication to fostering stronger institutional partnerships with sister agencies. Through enhanced collaboration, the Command aims to boost operational efficiency, strengthen national security frameworks, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
