OYO/OSUN CUSTOMS TURNS CSR INTO ACTION, REHABILITATES IJOKODO ROAD TO EASE MOTORISTS’ PLIGHT

…As Adewole leads officers and men in grassroots infrastructure intervention
In a practical demonstration of its commitment to community development, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Area Command, has taken its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) drive beyond the traditional frontiers of revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations with the rehabilitation of a deteriorated section of Ijokodo Road in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The intervention, spearheaded by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, saw members of the Command’s Management Team, officers and men actively participate in restoring the affected portion of the road, bringing much-needed relief to motorists, residents and other road users.
The exercise represents a timely response to the challenges posed by the deplorable condition of the road, which had impeded smooth vehicular movement and inconvenienced residents and commuters who depend on the route for their daily activities.
Beyond the physical rehabilitation, the initiative reflects the Service’s growing recognition of the importance of community-focused interventions as essential components of institutional responsibility and sustainable development.
By stepping in to address the infrastructure challenge, the Oyo/Osun Area Command has demonstrated that effective public service goes beyond enforcing regulations, safeguarding national borders and generating revenue; it also involves identifying community needs and making meaningful contributions to the welfare of the people.
The hands-on participation of the Acting Controller and his officers further underscores a leadership philosophy anchored on service, teamwork and purposeful engagement with host communities.
The initiative also reinforces the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to complementing government efforts in improving local infrastructure, strengthening community relations and creating an enabling environment for socio-economic activities to thrive.
The Oyo/Osun Area Command has reiterated its resolve to sustain interventions that promote public welfare, deepen stakeholder relationships and translate its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility into tangible benefits for the communities it serves.
