Premier League legend Alan Shearer has noted that France forward Antoine Griezmann has been a top performer at the ongoing World Cup.

The Atletico Madrid man has been hailed by many, including his teammates, after his stellar display against Morocco on Wednesday.

France beat Morocco 2-0 in the second semi-final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to set a final clash with Argentine on Sunday.

Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus became the first country since Brazil in 1962 to reach a back-to-back World Cup final.

The French goals came through the boots of Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani, but Shearer believes the former Barcelona man was the Man of the Match.

“The defensive work that Antoine Griezmann had to, and did do, in the second half: The number of times he got in the way, the number of times he blocked it, clearing the ball in his own box,” he told the BBC.

“I thought he was man of the match, he was really good. You have got to give Didier Deschamps credit for changing Antoine Griezmann’s position slightly.

“He is really enjoying what he’s doing and he’s working as hard as anyone on the pitch. He is doing an incredible job, both going forward and defensively. He has been superb.”
