Rape Allegation: Allow Judicial Process to Determine Your Innocence – Group Urges Femi Olaleye

The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) has urged embattled medical doctor, Dr. Femi Olaleye, who has been accused of sexually assaulting his wife’s niece, to allow the judicial process and the judgment of posterity determine his innocence or guilt in the ongoing legal battle now before the Supreme Court.

In a statement released on Thursday in Lagos, signed by its Executive Director , Comrade Gbenga Soloki, the organisation expressed concern over what it described as “repeated and futile attempts by Dr. Olaleye to portray himself as a victim of persecution, rather than facing the weight of the allegations head-on”

CAIDOV stated that it has closely followed the high-profile sexual assault case and, based on available evidence, the popular Lagos medical doctor committed heinous crime against a minor and should be made to face the full wrath of the law.

The group criticised the Court of Appeal’s decision to discharge him, describing it as “hasty and technical,” arguing that the core issue remains the alleged defilement and sexual abuse of a minor.

“We call on Dr. Olaleye to desist from any further attempts to mislead the public by framing the judicial proceedings as persecution. The several attempts to paint picture of being persecuted is uncalled for and condemnable , especially trying to write a fiction of a book to exonerate himself of the crime.

“The gravity of the allegations, coupled with the evidence submitted to several security agencies, demands sober reflection rather than propaganda,” the statement read.

The group equally condemned in strong terms the hiring of bloggers by the medical practitioner to churn out falsehood and defamatory stories in the media as two of those hired had confessed to the fact that he (Dr Olaleye)hired them and they have gone ahead to issue rebuttal of the stories they had earlier published.

CAIDOV further posited that his desperate attempt to silent the victim and her family led to the arrest of the bloggers and exposed him as a manipulator of the truth, an act that has failed as the victim and her family remain firm in their belief in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.

CAIDOV also commended the Lagos State Ministry of Justice for its unwavering commitment in pursuing the case despite the setback occasioned by the Appeal Court ruling.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for justice and pledged to continue collaborating with other stakeholders to ensure that all violators of children’s rights and dignity, particularly in Lagos State, are held accountable under the full weight of the law.
