Sit-at-home: Roadside trading booms in Imo, banks and schools remain closed

On Monday, the weekly Sit-at-Home Order compliance in Owerri, Imo State, took on a new twist as roadside trading boomed.

Unlike in the past, when the state capital was practically deserted on Mondays, there were vehicles on the roads, with buying and selling on the roadside improving dramatically.

According to reports, banks, schools, and offices remained closed, but artisans and roadside vendors continued to operate, albeit on a limited scale.

Commercial drivers were seen transporting passengers to various destinations within and outside of the city, but in small numbers.

Okigwe Road and Wetheral Road were a bit busy but independent markets in the state capital remained shut.

On inquiry, it was discovered that the ongoing primary elections of various political parties helped in the change in terms of the sit-at-home compliance in the state capital.
