Suicide bombers target 26 per cent north-east schools – UNICEF

At least 26 per cent of schools in the northeast have been targeted by suicide bombers, The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has stated.

It said an improved system of school data collection, analysis and usage will help bridge the gap caused by protracted conflict in the education sector.

UNICEF Chief of Maiduguri Field Office, Phuong T. Nguyen, said this in a statement in Maiduguri, Borno State.

According to Nguyen, 50 government education officers in the northeast region have been trained in the collection of quality data with support from the European Union.
