Super Hero Action movies, Kids Content and Other Exciting programmes Showing on GOtv this Weekend

Start the new month on a high note and keep your family entertained all through the weekend with exciting programmes showing across your favorite GOtv channels. Not sure what programmes to add to your watch list? Here are some of our top selections.

To start the month of April in style GOtv will on Saturday April 1 air iconic Superhero movie, Super Man Returns on Studio Universal (GOtv Ch.8) at 4:25 p.m. After a long absence, Superman returns to a changed world. His lover, Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth), has moved on with her life, and society has learned to survive without him. Superman must find a way to reconnect with her and find his place in a world that may no longer need him.

Also, on Saturday, Man of Steel, the sequel to Superman Returns, will air on Studio Universal (Gotv Ch. 8) at 8:00 p.m.  Directed by Zack Snyder, the movie, which stars Henry Cavill, tells the story of Clark, a young man who learns about the source of his abilities and his real home when he enters a Kryptonian ship in the Arctic. However, an old enemy follows him to Earth in search of a codex and brings destruction.

The action continues as John Cena, a well-known wrestler and movie star, stars in the intriguing American film The Marine on Mnet Movies 4 (GOtv. Ch3). The film, which airs at 8:00 p.m., follows his attempt to rescue his kidnapped wife from a gang of cunning diamond thieves.

Continuing the superhero catalog on Sunday is DC movie, Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Airing at 7:00 p.m. on Studio Universal (GOtv Ch.8), watch as two iconic super heroes, Superman and Batman, go against each other.  Batman attempts to end Superman’s reign on earth following his conviction that the man of steel has now become a threat to humanity.

On Sunday. Legendary American actor Sylvester Stallion will star in an action thriller movie Assassins. The film, which airs at 8:00 p.m. on Mnet Movies 4 (GOtv Ch.3) tells the tale of a hitman who must team up with a hacker to stop another killer who is after him.

Wrapping up a weekend filled with action and sci-fi movies on Sunday is very intriguing movie, Once Upon a Time in London airing 10:15 p.m. on Mnet Movies 4 (GOtv Ch.3). The movie is a 2019 British crime drama thriller directed by Simon Rumley and written by Will Gilbey, Rumley, and Terry Stone. The film chronicles the story of a notorious gangsters Billy Hill and Jack Comer and the epic rise and legendary fall of a nationwide criminal empire.

The kids are not left out, as GOtv also has a variety of exciting content to keep them entertained during the holiday season. Kung Fu animation  Jade Armor will air on Cartoon Network (GOtv Ch. 76) on Monday, April 3 at 5.25 p.m.  Also, kids’ adventure  Gigantosaurus continues on Disney Junior on April 4 at 7:00 a.m. ( GOtv Ch. 60). Children can learn new tricks alongside Ricky and his friends in the animated series Ricky Zoom, which airs  on Jim Jam ( GOtv Ch. 61) on April 5 at 2:30 p.m. Paw Patrol will air on NickToons (GOtv Ch. 69) on April 6 at 8:20 a.m.

Speaking at the event, the President and Executive Producer, AFRIMA, Mike Dada, delivered a stirring charge to the young talents, predicting that they could become dominant forces in African music within the next two to three years. Standing before an audience of entertainment executives, artistes, influencers and industry stakeholders at the prestigious Voyage Lagos, Dada said the Diamonds had been carefully selected because of their exceptional talent and potential to shape the future of African music. “You are not here by accident. You were chosen because we saw something special in you. We saw talent, passion, discipline and the potential to become stars not just in your countries, but across Africa and the world. “I am challenging you today to go out and dominate the music space in the next two to three years. The opportunity is here. The platform is here. The spotlight is on you. The next move belongs to you,” he said. Dada said AFRIMA’s vision extends beyond celebrating established stars, stressing that the awards platform was committed to building a pipeline of globally competitive African talents. He noted that Africa’s growing youth population presents a unique opportunity for governments and industry leaders to invest in the creative sector. “The world is moving towards a content creation economy. Content is the new currency. Young people are creating value every day through music, digital media, fashion and entertainment. Our culture is our competitive advantage. The question is how we can leverage it for economic benefit, job creation and sustainable development. That is the direction AFRIMA is focused on, and we will continue to invest in initiatives that empower young Africans through creativity,” he said. The seven Diamonds earned their place after a rigorous selection process conducted by AFRIMA’s International Jury before being introduced to a wider audience through performances at the AFRIMA Music Village during the ninth AFRIMA Awards. At the party in their honour, the Diamonds once again took centre stage, delivering electrifying performances that left guests cheering and offered a glimpse into what could become the next wave of African music stars. An emotional Black Astro described the initiative as a turning point in his career. “This opportunity has changed everything for me. AFRIMA has given us visibility, confidence and access to people who can help shape our future. We are ready to show the world what we can do,” he said. Mayowa Afolabi said, “Being named an AFRIMA Diamond is a dream come true. This platform has given us an opportunity that many young artistes spend years searching for.” Ellacentric also expressed gratitude for the journey, describing the experience as a powerful reminder that perseverance and hard work can eventually pay off.
