Timipre Sylva gets traditional title in Buhari’s hometown, Daura

Minister of State, Petroleum, Timipre Sylva will be turbaned by the Daura Emirate Council with the traditional title of “Sarkin Kudun Hausa’’.

The honour was offered by the Emir of Daura, HRH Umar Farouk Umar.

President Muhammadu Buhari, a native of Daura in Katsina State, reacted to the news on Friday through spokesperson Garba Shehu.

Shehu said the title is in recognition of Sylva’s “versatile and cross-cultural experiences, schooling, working and sharing wisdom in various parts of the country, and the world”.

Buhari believes Sylva’s acceptance highlights the need for religious and cultural tolerance, understanding and networking to sustain the unity of the country.

The Nigerian leader appreciates the Daura Emirate Council for their support for his administration.

“President Buhari prays for the well-being of the Minister and his family”, the statement added.
