Nigerian-born forward Chuba Akpom has expressed his determination to make a name for himself at Eredivisie side Ajax Amsterdam after his move to the former European champions from Sky Bet Championship club Middlesbrough.
The 27-year-old, who was the top scorer in the Championship with 28 goals, was courted by a number of clubs after his impressive performance for Middlesbrough last season.
Akpom, who eventually penned a five-year contract with Ajax, told the club’s website:
“I want to play and show everyone what I can do. It is a fantastic club with nice, friendly people. I feel very welcome here. My debut was fine. It was nice that I could get minutes since I missed the preparation. Unfortunately, we didn’t win, but now we can continue to build.”
