Transfer: I will be surprised – Danny Murphy on Liverpool midfielder joining Saudi Arabia club

Former Liverpool star, Danny Murphy has said he would be surprised if the club captain, Jordan Henderson left Anfield to join Steven Gerrard at Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq.

Murphy believes Henderson is still in shape to start for Liverpool next season amid reports linking him with a move to Gerrard’s new club Al-Ettifaq.

Recall that Al-Ettifaq recently appointed Gerrard as their new manager.

As a result, Henderson, 33, has been linked with a move to Al-Ettifaq.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy said, “(Jordan Henderson leaving) would surprise me. Unless (there is) an honest conversation with Jurgen Klopp about the number of games he is going to play or not. Jordan still looks physically brilliant.

“He still looks like he has loads to give. He would still be in my Liverpool first XI, 100 percent. Absolutely 100 percent. I would be really surprised (if he joined Gerrard in Saudi Arabia).
