Transfer: Thomas Partey to follow Xhaka out of Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey could leave the Premier League side this summer as they plot an overhaul of their midfield.

Partey was a key member of Mikel Arteta’s squad last season as they finished second behind Manchester City.

The Ghanaian made 33 appearances as the Gunners’ title charge ultimately fell flat.

However, Arsenal’s plans to strengthen their midfield this summer could well lead to Partey moving on, with Fabrizio Romano claiming there is a “concrete” chance that he will leave.

Partey’s current contract expires in 2025, and it remains to be seen what kind of fee he would command, but Arsenal paid £45 million to sign him from Atletico Madrid in 2020.

Granit Xhaka has all but agreed to join Bayer Leverkusen from Arsenal.

The Gunners are waiting to complete a deal for West Ham’s Declan Rice before giving Xhaka the green light.
