We’re still family – Shakira’s mother on Gerard Pique

Shakira’s mother, Nidia Ripoll Torrado, has made a surprising claim that Barcelona’s Gerard Pique is still family after the Spaniard visited the Colombian singer’s father in the hospital.

Shakira and Pique announced their separation back in June 2022.

As a result of the separation, the pair ended their 11-year relationship.

The aftermath of their split has been unstable, with the two at loggerheads over the circumstances of the breakup.

Shakira left Barcelona and headed to Miami earlier this year but has been dealing with her father, William Mebarak Chadid, who has been in hospital.

Chadid fell in 2022 and is receiving treatment in America for head trauma.

It was reported that Pique visited Chadid in hospital, which surprised many, given the tense situation between the former defender and Shakira.

However, Shakira’s mother, Torrado, has admitted that she still views Pique as a family despite his breakup with her daughter.

“Sure, he came. We are still family. I think I have a good relationship with him. I must have it because we have not fought,” Torrado told Colombian magazine Semana.

Pique and Shakira share two children, Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8.
