Why Guardiola punished me – Pique opens up

Former Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique has revealed that Pep Guardiola once punished him for wearing short sleeves.

Pique was a crucial part of Guardiola’s successful Barca team.

But Guardiola dropped and fined the former Spain international for not wrapping up in the cold.

“Once it was very cold in Barcelona, but I was wearing short sleeves.

“A photo of me in the snow and I in short sleeves appeared.

“Pep saw it and scolded me, fined me, didn’t call me for the game and made me pay for a meal for the team, as I was risking my health, ” Pique said.

Pique returned to Camp Nou from Manchester United in 2008 and won three La Liga and two Champions League titles under Guardiola.
