World Cup: Outstanding performance – Gareth Southgate hails two England stars after win over Senegal

England manager, Gareth Southgate, has singled out midfielders, Jordan Henderson and Jude Bellingham for praise following his side’s 3-0 win over Senegal on Sunday night.

Southgate described the performances of Henderson and Bellingham as ‘outstanding’, adding that the pair are both forward-running, thinking midfield players.

Goals from Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka ensured England defeated Senegal at Al Bayt Stadium.

The Three Lions will now tackle France in the quarter-final on Saturday.

Speaking after the game, Southgate told ITV: “I thought Jude and Hendo, in particular, were outstanding in that aspect of the game.

“They are both forward-running, forward-thinking midfield players. Hendo doesn’t get many friends, but I think he has been outstanding.

“He’s such a leader, he knits the team together, around the camp he’s brilliant. And I think his performances have been top draw for us.”
