World Cup: Ronaldo surpasses Messi’s goals record after Portugal’s win

Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, on Thursday evening surpassed his long-time rival Lionel Messi’s World Cup goals record.
The 37-year-old achieved the feat after scoring a penalty in Portugal’s World Cup 3-2 win over Ghana.
The former Manchester United forward slotted in a penalty in the 65th minute to hand Portugal the lead.
His teammates, Joao Felix and Rafael Leao, also scored against Ghana during the encounter at Stadium 974 (Ras Abu Aboud).
Ronaldo now has eight World Cup goals, while Messi has seven.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner will hope to continue his impressive display for Portugal when they face Uruguay on Monday in their next World Cup game.
