The Nigerian Army has moved its operational base to Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State and deployed 300 special troops following the deadly attack on Bin-Per community that left more than 20 people dead.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Major General W.M. Dangana, relocated to Mangu on Wednesday, August 19, to oversee the military response and coordinate operations on the ground.

The deployment followed the attack on Bin-Per community in Mangu, where reports said at least 23 people were killed, including women and children. The attack has heightened concerns over renewed violence in the Plateau community.

The Army has also commenced Operation Hard Nut, with the additional troops deployed to strengthen security operations and prevent further attacks in Mangu and surrounding communities.

Dangana’s decision to operate from Mangu is intended to allow the military leadership to monitor the situation directly, assess vulnerable areas and coordinate the response more closely.

The latest development comes just days after Dangana held a meeting with Mhagavul and Fulani community leaders in Mangu and urged them to reject violence, improve cooperation with security agencies and work towards resolving recurring tensions.

The military is expected to maintain an increased presence in the area as Operation Hard Nut continues, with the immediate focus on protecting residents and preventing further attacks.
