The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has cleared Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, of allegations linking him to the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal, concluding that the appointment letter presented by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi did not originate from the State House.

According to the Presidency, forensic investigations established that the purported appointment letter bearing Gbajabiamila’s name and signature was forged and that the PFIPC was never created or recognised by the Federal Government. The probe also found no evidence that the Chief of Staff issued the letter or authorised Adeyemi to operate the fictitious agency.

The investigation followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to the ICPC to probe the fake agency and all related allegations. Authorities have maintained that Adeyemi falsely presented himself as the Director-General of the non-existent agency using forged government documents.

The matter remains before the courts, while the Presidency says it remains committed to ensuring that everyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law.
