Forward Ever’: APC Unites Youths, Farmers Behind SYD-ADATO Ticket

A movement is rising across Kwara. From the farms of Baruten to the markets of Offa, from the youth forums of Ilorin to the elders’ councils of Kwara South, one message echoes: the time for generational leadership is now.

🇳🇬 THE TICKET

RT. HON. SALIHU YAKUBU DANLADI (SYD) — Governorship Candidate

Born in Gwanara, Baruten Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Danladi is the 41-year-old Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly — a politician whose journey began in student activism at Kaduna Polytechnic, moved through campaign coordination roles in 2011 and 2015, and culminated in his election to the Assembly in 2019. He became Speaker at 34 and retained the position after his re-election in 2023.

His candidacy carries historic weight. Since 1999, Kwara North has never produced an elected governor. Danladi’s emergence on the APC ticket breaks that cycle — a moment youth groups across the state have described as “a significant development in Kwara’s political evolution”.

HON. SEUN OGUNNIYI ADATO — Deputy Governorship Candidate

Hon. Ogunniyi represents Ojomu/Balogun Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly. A grassroots leader from Offa in Kwara South, his candidacy has drawn endorsements from an extraordinary coalition: prominent Offa business magnates, elder statesmen, and legal luminaries who resolved to “close ranks and back the lawmaker to ensure cohesive representation and sustainable socio-economic growth for Kwara South and the state at large”.

The Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Esuwoye, expressed deep appreciation for the choice of his subject, noting it was a gesture the community had long sought. And NADECO chieftain Chief Ayo Opadokun — a living legend of Nigeria’s democratic struggle — offered his patriarchal blessing to the joint SYD-ADATO ticket, urging Ogunniyi to remain “an uncompromising champion of equity, rule of law, and people-first democratic values”.

🌾 THE GROUNDSWELL

This campaign is not built in boardrooms. It is built on the ground.

The farmers have spoken. The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Kwara Chapter endorsed the APC ticket at a media parley in Ilorin, citing the administration’s transformative agricultural interventions: N2 billion paid to farmers affected by COVID-19, maize palliative care to 10,000 beneficiaries, subsidised inputs, tractorisation support, and the sponsorship of the 7th Agric Fair.

The youth have spoken. Across all three senatorial districts, youth groups have rallied behind the ticket. “The continuity of the stream of achievements of the current administration is uppermost in our hearts,” they declared, “so we are appealing to the youth, who are more in the population statistics, to support one of their own, who will identify with their cause and make life more prosperous and abundant for them”.

The elders have spoken. From Offa to Ilorin, traditional rulers and community leaders have thrown their weight behind the ticket, recognizing in Danladi and Ogunniyi a bridge between experience and energy, between continuity and renewal.

🏗️ THE RECORD

The APC administration in Kwara has delivered:

· 586.09 kilometres of roads constructed or rehabilitated in six years
· 8,912 teachers hired — the highest since 1999
· Nigeria’s lowest child mortality rate
· Health facilities upgraded across all 193 wards
· N50,000 social security stipends to about 10,000 senior citizens

Danladi, as Speaker, has presided over a legislative body that passed 23 bills and adopted 88 motions in three years — proof of a man who “manages a chamber, builds consensus among lawmakers, and exercises oversight over the executive”.

The other leads forward — to a Kwara where a young man from Gwanara can rise to the highest office, where a lawmaker from Offa can stand beside him, and where every community, from Baruten to Offa, from Kaiama to Ilorin, has a seat at the table.
