“Distinguished guests, permit me to briefly go into memory lane. By June this year, it will be exactly four years since the historic and award-winning Town Hall Meeting held in June 2022 by Ikotun Command — a programme widely acknowledged as the first of its kind in Nigeria within the Special Marshals framework.
“The impact and success of that programme were so remarkable that the then Corps Marshal dir

ected all Sector Commands across the country to emulate the Ikotun model by organizing similar Town Hall Meetings in their respective commands.“Interestingly and most remarkably, the Guest Speaker at that landmark Town Hall Meeting in June 2022 is represented here today, that’s the Secto
r Commander, RS2.1, Lagos Sector command and Chief Host of this programme, Corps Commander Hamzat G. Kehinde. This clearly demonstrates continuity, growth, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of road safety advocacy and community engagement.
“It is also worthy of note that Dominion Unit, which was one of the organisers of the award-winning 2022 Town Hall Meeting, is once again one of the organisers of today’s programme. This consistency in promoting impactful road safety enlightenment programmes is highly commendable and deserving of appreciation.

“I sincerely appreciate the presence and support of the Executive Chairman of Mosan Okunola LCDA, Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, who has consistently demonstrated commitment towards community development and road safety advocacy. We are particularly proud that she is also a Special Marshal and a worthy ambassador of the Special Marshals in Nigeria. Her dedication to service, leadership qualities, and unwavering support for initiatives like this are highly commendable. I encourage every Special Marshal and indeed every member of society to emulate her passion for service and community impact.
“Let me also specially appreciate the efforts of Unit 67 (Peace House) and Unit 73 (Dominion Cathedral) for coming together to organize this laudable programme. Your commitment towards promoting road safety awareness and community engagement is truly inspiring. This collaboration reflects unity of purpose and dedication to the ideals of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Special Marshals Scheme.
“I encourage other units across Lagos State to take a cue from this noble initiative by organizing impactful programmes that will positively influence our communities. I assure you that the Corps will always support meaningful and people-oriented programmes aimed at promoting safety consciousness and reducing crashes on our roads.
“As we participate in today’s discussions and lectures, I urge everyone present not to allow the lessons learned here to end within the walls of this hall alone. Let us put these lessons into practical use in our daily activities. Let us become ambassadors of road safety in our homes, workplaces, religious centres, and communities. By doing so, we will collectively build a stronger culture of safety on our roads. Once again, I warmly welcome you all and wish us a fruitful, impactful, and successful Town Hall Meeting,” Dr Olabisi, concluded.
