Gov Otti applauds Eze Anaba’s emergence as NGE President

Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, has applauded the recent election of the editor of Vanguard Newspapers, Mr Eze Anaba, as the new President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).

Recall that Anaba emerged president of the union at the biennial national convention, which took place recently in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, while applauding the feat, Governor Otti described Anaba’s election to lead NGE for the next two years as an eloquent testimony to his leadership qualities and a demonstration of confidence reposed in him by colleagues.

“This is evident in the overwhelming number of votes that won you the victory,” he added.

While he congratulated Anaba on his victory, Otti also lauded the entire guild and, particularly, the orgainsing committee of the convention for putting up a rancour-free event, thereby holding a free, fair and peaceful election that has now brought about the new leadership.

The statement partly read: “The people of Abia State are indeed glad to have you as one of their illustrious sons and hope that you will use your new office to work towards the realisation of their dream of a progressive and prosperous Abia.

“It is our prayer that your tenure will see to the continued strengthening of the Guild, work to promote the welfare, well-being, and rights of journalists in Nigeria, as well as ensure that practitioners continue to imbibe the ethics of the noble profession of journalism.”
