How to check your 2026 WAEC results via website, app or SMS

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is expected to release the results of the 2026 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates today, August 3, 2026, the date the examination body had previously committed to.

Once the results are out, candidates will need three things to access them: their 10-digit examination number, a valid e-PIN (along with its serial number), and an internet-enabled device. The e-PIN, which serves as the key to the result portal, costs ₦5,000.

Scratch cards from the previous year remain valid and can be used up to five times, but only for a single candidate’s examination number. Each candidate requires their own separate card.

Here is how to get your e-PIN

1. Go to waeconline.org on your browser.
2. Click on the “Buy WAEC Result Checker” section.
3. Select your exam type and click “Get Started.”
4. Fill in your email address and contact details.
5. Choose a payment method and complete the ₦5,000 payment.
6. Your serial number and PIN will be delivered immediately after payment.

How to check your 2026 WAEC Result

There are three ways to check: via the website, the mobile app, or SMS.

1. Website

1. Visit waec.org on your browser.
2. On the left side of the page, enter your 10-digit examination number. This is your 7-digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number. For example: 4123456789.
3. Select 2026 as the examination year.
4. Select “School Candidate Result” as the examination type.
5. Enter your PIN and serial number from your e-PIN.
6. Click Submit. Your result will appear on the next page.

2. Mobile App

1. Download the WAEC Result Checker app from the Google Play Store.
2. Open the app and enter your examination number, year, PIN and serial number when prompted.
3. Your result will display in the app, where you can also download it.

3. SMS

This method works without internet and is available only on MTN, Glo, and Airtel.

1. Open your messages and type “WAEC”, followed by a space, then your 10-digit examination number.
2. Send the message to 32327.
3. Your result will be delivered as a text message. Standard SMS charges apply.

What the grades mean

Results come with grades running from A1 to F9. A1, B2 and B3 are distinction and merit grades. C4, C5 and C6 are credit passes. D7 and E8 are pass grades that fall below the credit level. F9 means the subject was not passed.

Most Nigerian universities require at least five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics. C6 is the lowest grade that qualifies as a credit.

A withheld result usually means WAEC is investigating a malpractice case connected to the candidate’s centre or examination entry. Visit your school’s examination officer or the nearest WAEC state office with your examination number and result printout to follow up.

If a grade appears incorrect, candidates can raise a query through the WAEC portal or visit the state office directly. WAEC allows candidates to apply for result verification through its official channels
