Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Ikechukwu Eze, has denied reports claiming that the former president was offered ₦500 billion to contest against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2027 presidential election to split votes in the South-South region.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Eze described the report as false and urged Nigerians to ignore it.

He said; “Jonathan was never offered ₦500 billion to contest the 2027 presidential election or to divide votes against Peter Obi.

“We advise Nigerians to disregard the report and always verify sensational political stories before sharing them.

“As every election approaches, false information and fake statements become more common. People should not accept such reports as facts without proper verification.

“Former President Jonathan has never said he was offered money to run for president or to work against any candidate.”
