The Chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akinola Idowu, popularly known as Dodo, has flagged off the distribution of desks and benches to all public primary schools within the council area.

The initiative, which was launched on Wednesday, 3rd of February 2026, also includes the distribution of thousands of writing materials to junior secondary schools across Orile Agege LCDA.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Hon. Idowu said the intervention was part of his administration’s commitment to improving learning conditions and strengthening the public education system at the grassroots level.

He noted that the provision of furniture and learning materials would help address challenges faced by pupils who sit on bare floors or share inadequate desks, stressing that a conducive learning environment is essential for academic excellence.

According to him, the exercise will cover all public primary schools in the LCDA, ensuring that no school is left out, while junior secondary school students will benefit from the supply of exercise books and other essential writing materials.
Education stakeholders, including school administrators and teachers present at the event, commended the council chairman for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful, especially amid rising education costs.
They expressed optimism that the intervention would enhance pupils’ comfort in classrooms and boost teaching and learning outcomes across the LCDA.

The distribution exercise is expected to continue in phases, with monitoring teams deployed to ensure the items reach the intended schools and beneficiaries.
