Outgoing LG Auditor General retired voluntarily – Bauchi assembly confirm

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has put to rest, issues surrounding the retirement of the Auditor General of local governments in the state.

As contained in a summary of Tuesday’s plenary released by Abdul Ahmad Burra, spokesperson of the House, the Assembly announced that it has received the report of the House Committee on Public Service detailed to investigate the alleged breach of law in the local government auditor general’s office.

Burra said at the session presided over by Deputy Speaker, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, the report was laid before the house by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Dan’umma Bello of Giade Constituency.

“The Committee said it was given the assignment after the Honourable House received a complaint on the breach of law that established the office of the Local Governments Auditor General in which the Honourable mandated it to investigate the matter”.

Burra quoted the report as saying the committee after looking into the law, invited the management of the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission for interactions.

He said, according to the committee, their findings revealed that the outgoing Auditor General for Local Governments retired voluntarily.

“The Committee recommends that the House should maintain status quo on the issue of the retired Auditor General for Local Governments and proceed on the process of screening of the nominee presented by the state government.
