The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced significant breakthroughs in its ongoing efforts to combat organized crime, arrest dangerous criminals, and ensure public safety. In recent operations, the force apprehended a cop-killer, dismantled a child-trafficking syndicate, and recovered a cache of illegal arms and ammunition.

In a statement released by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the NPF highlighted these successes as part of its proactive, intelligence-driven strategies to enhance national security. The measures, according to the police, have disrupted criminal networks and significantly reduced incidents of organized and violent crime across the country.

Cop-Killer Arrested in Delta State

On November 1, 2024, operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) arrested Ogaga Dickson, a 35-year-old member of a notorious armed robbery syndicate responsible for the death of CSP Hassan Jega. CSP Jega, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbarho Division in Delta State, lost his life in a gun battle on October 14, 2024, while leading his team to foil a robbery operation by the gang.

Police operatives earlier stormed the gang’s hideout, resulting in a fierce gunfight that neutralized four gang members. The arrest of Dickson led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an English pistol, a locally made pistol, various calibers of ammunition, and six exotic vehicles.

Child-Trafficking Syndicate Busted in Plateau State

In another operation on December 2, 2024, the police apprehended a child-trafficking syndicate led by Pastor Dayo Bernard of End Time Army Ministry in Bukuru, Plateau State. The operatives rescued five children aged between two and four years, who had been abducted from different homes in Jos.

Other syndicate members arrested include Rita Agboeze, Victoria Ugwu, Nanman Puntel, and Peter Ukwuani. During interrogation, Bernard confessed to abducting and selling 13 children, all of whom have been recovered and reunited with their families through the Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

Illicit Arms Recovered Nationwide

In line with the Inspector General of Police’s directive to rid the country of illegal firearms, the FID-IRT successfully recovered 14 AK-47 rifles during their operations.

These achievements underscore the NPF’s determination to combat crime and enhance public safety. The force reassured Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to addressing security challenges across the country.
