Police assure hitch-free by-election in Kano

Kano State Police Command said that it is fully prepared to provide security during the by-elections scheduled to take place on Saturday at some polling units.

The Kano State Police Commissioner, Mamman Dauda, stated this at a stakeholders meeting held at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday in Kano State.

The Commissioner of Police, represented by his deputy, Mu’azu Muhammad, said that the police and other security agencies are fully prepared to ensure hitch-free elections in all the affected areas.

He assured that security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure that voters exercise their civil rights without any impediment.

The affected local councils where the elections will be conducted include, Dambatta, Makoda, Dawakin Tofa, Gabasawa, and Gezawa.

Others are Gaya, Takai, Garko, Wudil, Warawa, Ungogo, Ajingi, Gwarzo, Tudun Wada and Fagge.

INEC cancelled elections in the affected areas over violations of the Electoral Act.
