Popular Yoruba poet, writer, Lanrewaju Adepoju is dead

A popular Yoruba activist, poet, author, writer and artiste, Alhaji Olanrewaju Adepoju, is dead.

Lanrewaju Adepoju, as he was fondly called, died in his Ibadan residence at the age of 81 around 7 pm, DAILY POST reports.

He was the Aaare Alasa of Ibadan land until his death.

One of the children of the late poet and activist, Adejare Adepoju, confirmed the death of the deceased in a short statement obtained by DAILY POST on Monday.

He said, “Baba has gone to rest”.
