Reports of criminals on rampage in Abuja fake – FCT Police

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has debunked reports making the rounds that criminal elements are on rampage at the nation’s capital.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh, opined that the report was a brainchild of malicious elements, stressing that it lacks credence.
The command’s spokesperson urged residents of the city to disregard the report, asking them to go about their businesses without any fear of harassment.
The statement reads in part, “It is pertinent to state at this point that the command is not ignorant of the generation and promulgation of fake news as seen in some sections of the media, purporting that criminal elements are on rampage in the FCT.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that the news, targeted at creating panic in the FCT is a brainchild of malicious elements and lacks credence.
“Members of the public are hereby urged to outrightly disregard such news, especially those not verified by any official quarters and are enjoined to go about their lawful duties without the fear of Harassment or molestation of any kind or from any quarters”.
According to the statement, the command is putting up measures to ensure that the residents are safe in this festive period.
