SOWORE’S ALLEGED ABDUCTION: CAIDOV CALLS ON EKITI POLICE COMMAND TO INVESTIGATE AND UNRAVEL THE TRUTH

The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) has expressed deep concern over the reported attack and alleged abduction of the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Comrade Omoyele Sowore, in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
According to trending reports, Sowore was allegedly attacked by armed thugs inside Tawakalitu Restaurants and Catering Services in Ado-Ekiti at about 1:00pm on Friday, October 30, 2026, with posts from his verified Facebook page stating “Armed thugs kidnap Sowore. His current location is unknown!”
While the Ekiti State Police Command through its PPRO, SP Sunday Abutu, has debunked the kidnap claim, clarifying that it was an altercation in Dalimore area and that Sowore was promptly rescued and is receiving treatment for minor injury at the Police Hospital, CAIDOV notes that the conflicting narratives require a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation.
It is important to unravel the truth so that the people will understand the truth behind the alleged abduction and avoid unnecessary tension and misinformation.
CAIDOV condemns in strong terms any form of political violence, intimidation and thuggery. We therefore call on the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, to ensure that the discreet investigation already ordered is diligently carried out, its findings made public, and anyone found culpable brought to justice in accordance with the law.
Every Nigerian citizen has the constitutional right to freedom of movement, association and political participation without fear.
