Court Jails Man 21 Years For Stabbing Woman To Death

Justice Oyindamola Ogala of an Ikeja High Court yesterday sentenced a man, Vincent Edeh to 21 years imprisonment for stabbing a woman to death with a knife.

The sentence followed a plea bargain application made by the defence, dated March 21, which proposed 21 years jail term for Edeh.

State Prosecutor Mrs Abike Oluwasanmi and defence counsel Mrs Gloria Odimba, confirmed the agreement.

The prosecution presented the fact of the case in accordance with the plea bargain agreement.

Edeh was charged on a lone count charge of involuntary manslaughter before the court.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

Justice Ogala convicted and sentenced Edeh as charged for the offence of involuntary manslaughter.

The court ordered that the convict’s prison term should commence July 6, 2020, when he was put in detention.

State Prosecutor, Mrs Abike Oluwasanmi, had earlier told the court that Edeh committed the offence on July 6, 2020 at 14, Nwobodo Eze Street, Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos.

She said the convict killed one Oghechi Umunnakwe by stabbing her with a knife during an unresolved argument.

She said the offence contravened the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
